Human Rights are ours. No-one can ever take them away from us. Yet so few people actually know and understand their rights. It is also not just knowing what YOUR own rights are and wanting them respected, it is knowing and respecting the rights of others. If we can change a percentage of our continents views on just that – respect for others rights, we could save lives, create greater happiness and most of all, garner a culture that is more sure of its own survival. Better understanding of the rights of others can also decrease crime, improve relationships and reduce drug abuse.
I am a Director of the Africa Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance. This Foundation is action orientated and is the facilitator for the ‘Youth for Human Rights’ campaign, the “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” campaign (associated with the Drug Free Marshals) across Africa. These are two effective awareness and action orientated campaigns promoted around the world. Additional programs and campaigns the Foundation supports and drives are:
The Rights of Children project in Education,
Spotlight Human Trafficking Awareness Forum
and the Action Africa Interfaith Forum.
Through these campaigns and programs, we believe we can make a difference in the lives of fellow Africans.
